Ben Ehrmann. Drop and Give Me Twenty, 2024.
My process challenges my emotional and physical capabilities to communicate interwoven parallels between the subconscious and the preposterous. These inquiries, though often abstract, have developed from contemplations of psychoanalysis, intuitive behavior, social constraints, and self-imposed visual boundaries. My work embodies a diverse narrative that broadens and informs my present interpretations of both conflict and place.
Drop and Give Me Twenty is an enigmatic and satirical commentary toward corporal discipline in an overbearing world. Think Vaudeville meets Stanley Kubrick’s, Full Metal Jacket. My corporeal performance challenges the perception of machismo and obedience in a culture that has carved ingrained precedents for masculine decorum.
